Stop smoking plea from city GPs after rise in lung cancer

Sheffield GPs are urging smokers to quit following a rise in lung cancer among women nationally.

Cases of the disease in females have gone up by three quarters over the last 40 years, according to Cancer Research UK.

Dr Richard Oliver, joint clinical director at NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Stopping smoking is one of the best things someone can do for their health.”
