A NEW state-of-the-art GP practice in Sheffield has welcomed its first patients.
The £2.2 million East Bank Medical Centre, on East Bank Road, Arbourthorne, will treat more than 4,000 patients in some of the most modern health facilities in Yorkshire.
The new surgery - which replaces the Northern Avenue practice within a converted house - is in a modern two-storey building which has allowed the number of consulting rooms to be expanded from five to 14.
The additional spaces provide room for specialist doctors to run clinics and give potential for community health services to be developed in the future.
Practice manager Sharon Turner said: “This is a fabulous development and patients can expect treatment in first class facilities located in the centre of the community.”
The showcase surgery will also provide training for the next generation of medical students and allow practitioners to become mentors for trainee GPs.
