COURAGEOUS schoolgirl Niamh Power has died at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice after a battle with a recurring brain tumour.

The nine-year-old from Maltby - between Rotherham and Doncaster - underwent three operations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy in a bid to rid her of the tumour, but the astrocytoma kept returning.

She passed away on Friday morning in the arms of her parents Simon and Marie.

South Yorkshire well-wishers raised thousands of pounds for the little girl as her parents searched for a cure.

The funeral will be held next week.
