Sick children benefit from colleagues’ festive efforts

A Sheffield housing charity sacrificed Secret Santa to help raise more than £2,000 for sick children and cancer sufferers in time for Christmas.

Instead of exchanging presents and Christmas cards, staff at Target Housing in Upperthorpe raised funds in aid of Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Cancer Research UK, by organising a raffle, donating money they’d otherwise have spent on cards, and selling reindeer dust to give Santa’s pathways a bit of extra sparkle.

During the year, staff and residents have also cooked, baked, run, sung, jumped out of an aeroplane, run a snack shop and given regular donations through their payroll giving system. CEO Shaun Needham said: “They’re a truly amazing team.”
