A CANCER charity plans to ‘paint the town yellow’ next month with a series of fundraising events in Doncaster.

Marie Curie Cancer Care will be holding collections all over Doncaster as part of its Great Daffodil Appeal.

Volunteers will be asking people to make a donation to the charity in return for a daffodil pin.

The charity is hoping to raise more than £5.5 million across the UK this March to provide free care to local people with a terminal illness in their own homes.

Collections will be at:

n Sainsbury’s, Thorne Road, on March 5 and 6;

n Morrisons, York Road, from March 18 until March 20;

n Asda, Bawtry Road, on March 26 and 27;

n Tesco, Woodfield Plantation, on March 31;

n Sainsbury’s, Thorne, from March 4 until March 6;

n Keepmoat Stadium, March 8;

n Frenchgate interchange. March 25;

n Doncaster rail station, March 15.

Fundraiser Liz Howlett said: “Every donation for a daffodil will help us to provide more free nursing care hours, allowing people to spend their final days in the comfort of their own homes surrounded by family and friends.”
