NHS bosses are taking health checks to the people with a series of events planned at a borough shopping centre.

Test Your Health sessions will be running on two days this month at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in a bid to catch symptoms of ill health early.

Last year 4,200 people attended the free NHS checks for a range of tests including blood glucose, cholesterol, weight and simple advice on lifestyle choices.

Many of the tests which will be carried out can reveal a range of hidden illness’s that can lie undetected for years.

They can help to provide early detection that could potentially save lives, says bosses at the centre.

Centre manager Cheryl Sadler said: “We are really pleased with the amount of shoppers and staff who have come forward for the checks so far.

“We invite even more to attend the days in March.

“These really are essential checks for anyone aged 40 to 74 years old, so we urge people not to hesitate and pop down for a visit that could potentially save your life”.

The tests due to be carried out at Lakeside are planned for Thursday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 30.

They will be running between 10am and 3pm. To book an appointment telephone 08000 121 808.
