A Sheffield student inspired to support a leukaemia charity after losing a friend aged 14 to the disease has helped to raise more than £50,000.

Daniel Redhead, who studies business management at Sheffield University, has organised events ranging from bungee jumps to sponsored walks, as well as a charity car wash, to collect funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

He originally set out to raise £500, but has since brought in 100 times that amount.

Daniel’s achievement was recognised with a celebration evening in his home town of Winterton, Lincolnshire, where he co-ordinates the charity’s local branch.

Daniel is part of Lloyds Bank’s Scholars scheme, through which students commit to voluntary work in return for paid internships.
