What an incredible opportunity Sheffield Steelers have this weekend.

Can they take advantage of it?

Last Sunday when Sheffield were getting well-beaten at Cardiff Devils, I wasn’t the only Steeler follower to fear the league title trophy was no longer likely to end up at the Arena.

But an unexpected defeat for Braehead Clan at second-to-bottom Edinburgh Capitals left Sheffield a point ahead at the top of the table.

This means that two wins, at Nottingham Panthers tomorrow and at home to Devils on Saturday and the championship is won.

First things first: Panthers won 5-1 at Belfast Giants on Sunday and would dearly love to burst the Steeler bubble.

And games against Devils are notoriously difficult to predict.

Whatever happens on the ice, Steelers can be proud of one thing this week...the 80-mile charity walk Dave Simms, Neil Edwards and Elliott Hall are performing.

It started yesterday and is raising money on behalf of the much-loved fan Amy Usher, 21, who has an incurable cancer.

Amy is a warm, beautiful young lady - and I think it is wonderful how the club have taken her to heart.

So good luck for the League title boys - and best wishes to that amazing charity campaign.
