Sheffield Sophie’s set for trip of a lifetime

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Travel Clinic has helped its 1,000th patient prepare for a safe journey this month.

Sophie Fell visited the clinic, based in the department of Infection and Tropical Medicine at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, to make sure she had all her vaccinations for a world trip which will see her visit 31 countries.

Sophie, aged 30, will spend a year travelling across South East Asia, South America and Central America as well as Australasia, taking part in voluntary schemes as she goes.

Dr Cariad Evans, one of the founders, said: “It is a very impressive achievement to have reached our 1,000th patient mark.”
