A newly refurbished mental health facility has won a top award in recognition of its attractive design features.
Endcliffe Ward, Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust’s new psychiatric intensive care unit, was honoured with the Refurbishment Project of the Year award at the Design in Mental Health Awards 2016.
The new building, on the former Oakwood site at the Longley Centre in Northern General Hospital, includes three separate enclosed garden spaces, an occupational therapy room and a family room. There are also 10 bedrooms set around a courtyard and variety of therapy areas. Kevan Taylor, chief executive of Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are delighted to win this prestigious award.”
