Sheffield based insurance firm Westfield Health helped are helping employees get fit and eat healthier by installing a ‘smoothie bike’.
The exercise bike was introduced to mark the end of Westfield Health’s ‘Healthy Eating Week’, during which staff were encouraged to share inventive ways to eat and drink smarter.
The bike features a built-in blender, which riders add their favourite fruits to before pedalling.
Their activity powers the blender to create nutritious smoothies.
Head of HR Development and Strategy, Fiona Lowe, said: “The news is full of stories about rising levels of obesity and the health problems related to inactivity.
“Creating a happier and healthier workplace is an extremely important business issue. We are proud to be doing our bit to promote wellbeing activities within our own organisation and to support businesses to move health and wellbeing to the top of their agenda.
“At Westfield Health, we work hard to ensure our customers stay healthy, and we want to do the same for our employees too. This is a unique and creative way to keep fit and healthy, and it’s fun for our staff to see the fruits of their labour.”
