Almost £500,000 is to be invested in improving physical and mental health across Sheffield.

Sheffield Council’s cabinet is to consider a series of schemes at its next meeting on April 15.

Spending plans include providing £200,000 to support community mental health and wellbeing work, £120,000 on encouraging people to become more active with organisations such as local walking groups and £125,000 on running a children’s emotional wellbeing pilot project in schools.

Councillor Mazher Iqbal, Sheffield City Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health, said: “We are committed to helping people in Sheffield stay well and healthy, and want to boost opportunities within communities and for young people.”
