Service to remember lost babies and children to be held in Barnsley

Have your say

A memorial service is to be held in Barnsley for families who have lost a baby or child at any time during or after pregnancy.

The service on Sunday, October 11 is to be held in the chapel at Barnsley District Hospital, from 2pm.

Families will be invited to light candles in memory of the baby or child they wish to remember.

They will also have the opportunity to ask for their baby or child’s name to be read out.

The service will also include the reading of poems, a short talk and some songs.

At the end of the service balloons will be released from the hospital’s memorial garden to mark the occasion.

Refreshments will be served and there will be the opportunity for families to share their feelings with others who have had similar experiences.

The service will coincide with Baby Loss Awareness Week, from October 9-15 October.

The international campaign encourages families to place a lit candle in their window at 7pm on October 15.
