Runners’ £50k for St Luke’s

Have your say

SHEFFIELD’S enthusiastic runners have raised £50,000 for St Luke’s Hospice.

Around 150 took part on the hospice’s behalf in the Sheffield Half Marathon - and now the hospice is hoping for an even greater response to the Great Yorkshire Run, which takes to the streets of Sheffield on September 2.

“We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of our runners and the generosity of their supporters,” said fundraising manager Fran Morley.

“To have raised £50,000 from one event makes a major impact on our annual campaign to raise the £4m we need to simply keep the hospice open. We now hope even more runners sign up for the Great Yorkshire Run and help us to raise even more money.

“Every step they take really does have a major impact.”
