A Sheffield children’s charity has been boosted by a £250 grant towards the installation of a new bathroom with disabled access in support accommodation

Magnolia House, at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, provides accommodation and support for families who have children seriously ill in hospital.

The funding came from The Screwfix Foundation, a charity set up by the trade retailer which supports projects to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need.

AnnWyatt, manager of Magnolia House, which is run by the Sick Children’s Trust, said: “We are grateful to The Screwfix Foundation for donating these essential funds. Providing quality, free-of-charge accommodation for families with children receiving life-saving treatment in hospital is essential in helping to support them at such a stressful and emotional time.

“We’d like to thank everyone involved in fundraising.”

John Nixon, a Screwfix store manager in Sheffield, said: “Our colleagues from across the business held a variety of fundraising events – from leg waxes and bike rides, to mountain climbs and fun days – to raise cash for the foundation.”
