ATHLETES from South Yorkshire are being urged to snap up one of the remaining places in the Great North Run being offered by a diabetes charity.
Diabetes UK still has some places left for the event which takes place on Sunday, September 18.
The charity is on the hunt for runners from across the region who are keen to take part in the annual run and raise money on their behalf.
The 13.1 mile event is the world’s largest half marathon and takes place in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Runners follow a route from the city centre and end up at South Shields.
Participants who run on behalf of the charity are asked to raise a minimum of £350 in sponsorship.
Those signing up will receive a fundraising pack including ‘crazy hair’.
Call 01325 488606 or visit www.diabetes.org.uk/gnr to sign up before the deadline of Friday, July 8.
