RESIDENTS can pick up free security equipment during a drop-in session being held in a village on the outskirts of Sheffield.

North East Derbyshire Community Safety Partnership has organised the event, at Ridgway Village Hall, between 3pm and 5pm on Wednesday.

During the session, people in the area will also be able to meet their local police officers to discuss concerns about crime.

Free equipment being handed out includes personal kits to mark valuable property and personal safety alarms.

Residents can also pick up advice about measures they can take to protect their homes and vehicles from crime.

A spokesman for the Community Safety Partnership said: “We would encourage all residents to come along to this event, as it is a valuable opportunity to voice any concerns they may have about crime and related issues.

“People can also pick up useful hints and tips, as well as a range of useful items to protect their home and vehicles and make them more secure.”
