Walker Charlie Blackwell has conquered the rugged grandeur of the Welsh coast - and raised over £1,000 for St Luke’s.

The retired painter and decorator, right, was joined by friend Al Monkman, left, in tackling the 870-mile Wales Coastal Path.

The experienced long distance walkers set off from Chester on April 24 and still had a spring in their step as they arrived in Chepstow on May 30, having averaged a remarkable 165 miles a week.

Every mile along the route raised vital funds for Sheffield’s only hospice.

“We’ve had no aches, no pains and no blisters,” said Charlie, from Eyam, who celebrated his 64th birthday during the walk. Visit to sponsor them.
