Older folk are limbering up for annual ‘memory walk’

Residents, staff and friends of Sheffcare residential care homes are getting into shape for the Alzheimer’s Society annual Memory Walk.

The event, part of a nationwide network of 2k and 10k fundraising walks for the charity, will be held this autumn, at Rother Valley Country Park on October 11.

And as a special incentive to employees, Sheffcare will contribute £25 each to the Alzheimer’s Society for the first two staff members from each home who register for the 10k walk.

“We are confident that not only will our staff be keen to take part but some residents will be active enough too, certainly for the 2k,” said Sheffcare chief executive Belinda Black. “We are very aware of the needs of our residents with dementia and what great work the Alzheimer’s Society does.”
