NURSES put the kettle on at St John’s Hospice in Doncaster as they threw themselves into a tea party to help a cancer charity.

St John’s Hospice staff and Marie Curie nurses spent an afternoon brewing up and serving cream teas at a ‘Blooming Great Tea Party’ held at the St John’s Hospice Information and Support Centre in Balby.

The event was to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Visitors bought cream teas and cakes as part of an annual fundraising initiative by the cancer charity.

Sarah Bell, Hospice at Home co-ordinator and Marie Curie sister, said: “We have had some great support for the day from patients and staff and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has attended.

“We don’t know yet how much we have raised but one person donated £100. All money raised will go to Doncaster Marie Curie and will help them to provide care for local people suffering from cancer and other illnesses.”
