A new residential care centre catering for people with mental health problems is set to open in Sheffield.

Bowden House, in Darnall, will create 21 jobs and provide care for up to 11 patients, according to operator Craegmoor, which will run the facility.

Five beds will also be set aside for emergency admissions at the centre, which aims to equip patients with the right skills to move into supported accommodation.

Sarah Hughes, managing director of Craegmoor, which is part of the Priory group of companies, said: “This service, for individuals who require specialist support for mental health needs, will bring high-quality, much needed care provision to the Sheffield area.

“The focus will be on rehabilitation and empowerment to enable and support the person to return to supported or independent living as quickly as possible.

“The experience that Craegmoor and the Priory Group has in mental health, complex and long term care, will enhance the care provision for the area.”

The building on Prince of Wales Road is being completely renovated at a cost of £100,000 ahead of the opening later this year.
