A NEW medical director has been appointed at the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr David Throssell starts his new role tomorrow at the trust, which runs the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospitals, as well as other health facilities.

The doctor, who has previously held the posts of deputy medical director and clinical director, said being chosen for the job was ‘a real privilege’.

He joined the trust in 1996 and has also worked as a consultant renal physician.
