An interim medical director has been appointed by Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.

Donal O’Donoghue will work alongside Dr David Hicks, who has been acting medical director for the last year and is now taking up a part-time post as deputy medical director.

A permanent medical director is expected to be appointed in spring.

Mr O’Donoghue has previously been chief executive at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust and medical director at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.

Louise Barnett, chief executive at the trust, said: “We are delighted to announce that Donal has joined the Trust. I am confident that Donal will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role.
