Mountain rescue team members raised £1,000 at their annual bucket collection in Barker’s Pool in Sheffield.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team plans to donate the cash to the ‘Saving Time, Saving Lives’ appeal, which aims to raise cash to pay for a new helipad at the Northern General Hospital.

Around £420,000 of a £2 million target is still needed to pay for the helipad outside the Accident & Emergency unit, aimed at reducing the amount of time it takes to get patients into hospital.

The current helipad is 250 metres away.

Dave Torr, of Edale Mountain Rescue Team, said: “We had a fantastic response from the public who not only donated to the appeal but asked loads of questions.”
