Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust holds its annual general meeting next week for the public to find out more about its services.
The meeting, at the Digital Media Centre, County Way, Barnsley, on September 12 from 5.30pm until 7pm, will give the public chance to hear what the hospital has achieved in the last year, and its plans for the future.
Stephen Wragg, chairman of Barnsley Hospital, said: “Last year we faced our greatest challenges with no uplift in our budget, the scale and pace of NHS reforms and rising numbers of patients coming to A&E.
“Despite the challenging climate our staff cared for and treated thousands of patients.
“For the second year running, there were no cases of MRSA, and C Difficile cases dropped by more than 40 per cent from the year before.
“We refurbished our surgical high dependency unit and our surgical team introduced a new way of working with some procedures, helping patients recover faster by building their strength and resilience before their operation.
“Looking forward, the biggest challenge we face is to transform how we work while continuing to meet patients’ needs and putting quality and safety first.”
There will be a chance for people to meet managers and clinicians from the hospital and a question answer session will follow the presentations.
