Longer visits to stay at Chesterfield Hospital after success of pilot

Chesterfield Hospital is to extend visiting hours permanently after two successful pilot schemes.

All general medical, surgical and orthopaedic wards opened their doors for longer over Christmas.

It followed a three-month trial when a handful of wards had longer visiting hours.

Now all medical and orthorpaedic trauma wards can have visitors from 10am to 8pm, while the emergency management unit, surgical wards and elective orthopaedic ward can have visitors from 2pm to 8pm.

Staff said the change had staggered visitor numbers.
