FAMILIES came together in Chesterfield to mark the official opening of a new children’s centre.
Whittington Children’s Centre hosted the event to give local youngsters and their families the chance to try out facilities on offer and meet staff.
The centre, in Church Street North, offers services including baby groups, book swaps, a toy library and special events throughout the year.
Coun Barry Lewis, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for young people, performed the official opening. He said: “It’s wonderful to be able to meet local families and find out how useful children’s centres can be to them. Our children’s centres bring vital services for children and families together at the heart of communities.”
