A PENSIONER has returned from his eighth charity bike ride overseas - two weeks in India on a challenge which helped raise £40,000.
Retired microbiology technician Howard Crossley has raised more than £12,000 for the LEPRA Health in Action charity, which fight diseases of poverty in remote and poor communities.
The 67-year-old’s latest feat saw him join a group of 19 people - of whom he was the oldest - for the epic ride where he saw first-hand some of the projects the charity supports.
He said: “It is wonderful to be able to revisit some projects and also see some new ones.
“When you meet the patients, particularly people who have had leprosy, they have been so shunned. When you shake their hand they are delighted, the rapport you build is so special.”
