A SOUTH Yorkshire hospital trust is celebrating success in a national awards scheme.
Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust came runner-up at the Healthcare People Management Association’s 2011 Excellence in Human Resources Management Awards.
The title was handed out in the category for ‘best practice and innovation using electronic staff records system’.
The hospital has been at the forefront of national developments in electronic staff records systems since 2006.
In the past 12 months it has successfully implemented a National Learning Management System which works with a User Identity Manager to give staff access to online training and clinical systems through the use of a ‘smartcard’.
Allen Hitchen, HR projects manager at Barnsley Hospital, said: “The greatest benefit is that by reducing paperwork, admin support and spending less time attending classroom training, clinical staff have more time for clinical duties.”
