LONG-standing health workers were congratulated for clocking up more than 1,000 years of service at Barnsley Hospital.

Workers were recognsied at the annual long service awards.

More than 40 employees picked up certificates, presented by the chairman of Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, for 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of loyal service.

Employees picking up awards included healthcare assistants, nurses, community midwives, radiographers, maintenance technicians and estates managers.

Chief executive Paul O’Connor said: “It was a great ceremony and it speaks volumes about the workforce’s dedication at Barnsley Hospital - 42 employees, from such a range of disciplines, picking up long service awards for more than 20 years’ dedication to the hospital and patients.”
