A group of midwives from Barnsley Hospital who created a new health and wellbeing service have been recognised for their efforts with a top award nomination.

The workers, including Debbie Welham, specialist midwife in teenage pregnancy and Sue Gibson, head of midwifery, devised a service based at Barnsley College offering students sexual health advice, pregnancy support, weight management counselling and help to stop smoking.

They have now been nominated for a prize at the Annual Midwifery Awards, organised by the Royal College of Midwives.
