A Doncaster company which provides nursing and care in peoples’ own homes has received the seal of approval from England’s health and social care regulator.
Prestige Nursing + Care Doncaster was recently the subject of an inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
In line with CQC procedures, Prestige was given short notice of the visit, which was aimed at ensuring the company was meeting its legal obligations as a provider of care and support services to the public.
Prestige, which has its head office in Sandall Carr Road, Doncaster, and provides care to people across the area, was given an overall ‘good’ rating for the service it provides, with no corrective actions being required. This rating was based on a number of factors, including the provision of that were deemed to be safe, caring, responsive, effective and well managed.
As part of the inspection, people who receive care from Prestige, along with families of others who receive care were contacted by telephone about their experiences of the company.
All the people who were spoken to told the CQQ that they were very happy with the service provided. Members of staff were also interviewed and care records were also examined.
The CQC report, which has now been made public, says: “We found that peoples’ needs had been assessed before their care package commenced and they told us they had been fully involved in creating and updating their care plans.
“The information included in the care records we saw clearly identified peoples’ individual needs and preferences, as well as any risks associated with their care and the environment they lived in
“All the people we spoke with said members of care staff were caring, professional, polite and respectful, and the staff we spoke with showed a good knowledge of the people they supported, their care needs and wishes. One staff member said it was the best job they have ever had because of the people who use the service.”
Prestige Nursing + Care Doncaster Managing Director Mike Dooley said: “We are very pleased with the result of the inspection. It validates what we already knew which is that we provide high quality nursing and care services to people throughout Doncaster.
“These services include helping people with acquired brain injury and other complex needs, so it is essential we have the right calibre of staff to deliver this care.”
Since opening in 2009, Prestige Nursing + Care (Doncaster) has grown rapidly and now employs 50 staff and provides 1,200 care hours each week.
