A MUSICIAN with a debilitating medical condition has organised a fundraising concert for a specialist hospital ward in Sheffield.
Tonight, for the third year running, Gavin Somerset, aged 27, from Oughtibridge, will take part in a live performance to raise money for The Star-backed Cystic Fibrosis Appeal, to fund a new 12-bed inpatient unit at the Northern General Hospital.
The ward is designed to provide a more homely and comfortable environment for young adults like Gavin who often have to spend several weeks at a time in hospital, receiving treatment to help maintain their health.
The concert will feature performances from Gavin and the friends he has made playing and composing for brass bands across Sheffield.
The event starts at 7.30pm at The Venue in Stocksbridge.
Gavin’s mother Rosey Somerset said: “The support over the last few years has been fantastic, last year it was a complete sell out. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll have the same success this time.”
