Free sexual health advice in city centre

Have your say

Health workers will be offering advice on safe sex, and handing out free contraceptives, during an event in Sheffield city centre.

Sexual Health Saturday is taking place on September 27, and staff from the Sexual Health Sheffield service will be in Tudor Square from 12noon to 4pm.

The team will be giving out free condoms and providing information on testing for HIV and other sexually-transmitted infections.

Free screening for chlamydia – the most common STI among under 25s – will also be on offer.

Steve Slack, sexual health manager at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Sexual Health Saturday promotes all aspects of good sexual health, one of which is the importance of testing for, treating and preventing sexually transmitted infections.

“Getting advice or treatment on any sexual health issue has never been easier, with Sexual Health Sheffield opening two ‘one-stop shop’ centres earlier this year.”

The centres are located at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and on Mulberry Street in the city centre.
