A NEW consultant physician at Doncaster Royal Infirmary with a special interest in acute medicine is currently involved with new IT innovations looking towards electronic patient records.

Before his appointment, Dr Mike Whiteside worked for the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he was a specialist registrar in respiratory medicine, acute medicine, and cardiology.

He qualified in 2001 from the University of Sheffield, where he gained his MBChB.

He has previously worked for Barnsley District General Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and also foe Rotherham District General Hospital.

He has also led the medical support team on expeditions around the world, including a race to the North Pole.
