THERE are just eight days left to nominate NHS workers to be recognised as Sheffield’s Healthcare Hero 2012.
Readers of The Star have been invited to nominate hospital or community health staff who have made a difference and gone beyond the call of duty.
It could be a specialist doctor or consultant, a nurse, a midwife, or one of the many volunteers who give up their time to look after others.
Some 15,000 people work for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, which runs the city’s five adult hospitals and provides community health services.
They work tirelessly to ensure city residents are kept healthy and comfortable, whether by performing emergency operations or handing out cups of tea on the wards.
Once a year, the hospitals trust holds a glamorous ‘Thank You Awards’ ceremony, to recognise staff who achieve amazing feats every day.
The Healthcare Hero award is for an individual or team who has made an outstanding contribution to patient care..
Once all nominations are in, a selection will be published in The Star for readers to vote for the winner.
