A DOTING dad has signed up for Sheffield’s Great Yorkshire Run to mark his daughter’s battle with meningitis.

Nine-month-old Jessica Marsden suffered swelling on the brain after contracting the disease when she was 10 days old. She was diagnosed with Group B Streptococcus and septicaemia.

Her father Rob Marsden, aged 38, from Spalding, will take part in the 10K race on Sunday to raise awareness for charity Meningitis UK.

Rob said: “Jessica is the bravest person we know. Health professionals must be aware of the disease.”
