A CREATIVE cafe which provides a place for people with mental health problems to build new friendships and learn new skills is set to celebrate its first birthday tomorrow.
The Live Arts Cafe in Gawber Road, Barnsley, is hosting a garden party from 2pm until 7pm tomorrow to celebrate the first 12 months of its weekly cafe.
The initiative, run by Action Space Mobile – a Barnsley-based community arts organisation – and the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, sees people with mental health problems and their families and friends come together for a cabaret-style social and creative evening.
The garden party will be an opportunity to showcase the talents of those who have taken part, and offer a taster of what people can expect from the cafe.
Attractions will include an exhibition of work, live music, poetry, circus skills, a drumming workshop and a barbecue.
