REPRESENTATIVES from a Sheffield-based company which supplies the world’s first biodegradable oesophageal stent attended a global conference in the Czech Republic to discuss the technology that will reduce costs, prevent discomfort and cut infection.

Crookes-based UK Medical staff were among the doctors and healthcare professionals from around the world discussing how one of their ground-breaking products can be used.

The BD Stent is the first of its kind on the market and dissolves within 11 to 12 weeks, taking away the need for a sometimes painful removal procedure.

Ian Aaron, managing director, said: “We were delighted to be invited to attend such a prestigious conference and hear so much positive feedback about the BD Stent.

“We never lose sight of the human story at the heart of every request for medical products. We put customers and patients first.”
