City college backs work experience campaign

A Sheffield college is welcoming young people to work in their cafe from Monday as part of their support for Work Experience Week.

Freeman College is organising a series of events in their Fusion Cafe on Arundel Street in the city centre.

Charity Fair Train said South Yorkshire schoolchildren should be making more visits to local factories and offices to help them make correct career choices later in life.

Their figures show that pupils in Germany have far more opportunity to visit a manufacturing site than those in Britain, while in America youngsters tour plants and factories as part of National Manufacturing Day.

The group is urging businesses to throw open their doors and schools to organise more workplace visits.
