AN INSPIRATIONAL young man from Sheffield was among the speakers who travelled to Hull for a ball raising awareness about learning disabilities.
Chris Sampson, aged 20, from Millhouses spoke to over 100 people on behalf of charity Mencap and the Inspire Me project, in his role as a young ambassador for learning disability in the Yorkshire region.
Chris – the new face of Mencap’s New Year New Me campaign – spoke about his experiences and what he has gained through the project.
He is currently setting up his own Makaton business, a type of sign language, with the help of Mencap, and has taught Makaton to students at Sheffield Hallam University, Woodseats Police Station, and his local primary school.
Chris said: “I love speaking about my life. I just want to make my life proud.”
