A CHARITY night is being held at The Consort Hotel in Rotherham to help raise money for cancer charities.
The event on Friday, July 1, will feature five-piece band Foxx, comedian Dom Woodward, disco, bar and pie and peas supper.
There is also an auction featuring a signed and framed Sheffield Wednesday shirt, tickets to major theme parks, a signed Manchester United shirt as well as a raffle for prizes donated by local shops, businesses and football clubs.
The event starts at 7pm with tickets priced £15 and proceeds will go to Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and Macmillan Cancer Support.
It is being organised by Peter Oldfield, aged 61, of Rawmarsh, who was inspired to raise money as a thank you for the treatment his wife Jean received while she had the disease.
He said: “It should be a fantastic night for everyone, there is great entertainment and some top prizes in the raffle and auction to be won and we hope to raise a lot of money for this wonderful cause.’
The event is the second charity evening Peter has organised and he is hoping he can emulate the success he had four years ago when he managed to raise £3,000.
Tickets can be bought from the venue, from Peter on 07990 968879 and his son-in-law Jon Earnshaw on 07907 814999.
Meanwhile, Peter is asking for the loan of cricket equipment for a charity match in Rotherham to raise cash for cancer charities.
Peter said: “We are organising a game of cricket to raise money but there is a lot of equipment needed which we don’t have.
“We would be very grateful if anyone could donate or lend us any kit so we can get a game together.”
