KIND-HEARTED residents of North Derbyshire have raised thousands of pounds for a children’s hospice.

Former North East Derbyshire District Council chairman Councillor Brian Wright and his wife Susan launched a fundraising drive for Rainbows Hospice, Loughborough last year.

He wanted to raise cash for the East Midlands facility, which serves sick children and their families in the district. They raised £10,138 in total.

Cllr Wright said: “I would like to thank everyone for their help and support throughout the year to raise much-needed funds for this worthy charity.”

Paula North, the hospice’s fundraising manager, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with the chairman and his wife.”
