COMMUNITY and mental health services have switched providers in Barnsley.
As of the first of this month, the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust will take over the services formerly provided by Care Services Direct.
For patients currently using the services – which cover mental health, learning disability, and community provision across the borough – business will continue as usual, from the same locations and delivered by the same members of staff.
But workers will transfer to the new organisation.
Trust chief executive Steven Michael said: “The transfer of services from Care Services Direct is very positive news for the trust.
“It represents the bringing together of two similar and successful organisations.
The trust is committed to providing services in the local communities it serves and will continue to do this.
“We are delighted to be combining our expertise and experience with the staff who are joining our trust, for the benefit of local people.”
