Two trainee doctors have won a top award for research into patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease while working in Rotherham.

Dr Izzie Hassan and Dr Mushayyada Nisar won the Erwin Stengel memorial prize at The University of Sheffield for the best piece of academic research submitted by trainee psychiatric doctors in the Sheffield and North Trent region. They also collected a cheque for £100.

The pair worked in Rotherham Hospital’s medical imaging department, conducting an audit of the first 275 patients who underwent a new scanning method.

The research showed the method was 100 per cent accurate.
