Would be adopters from South Yorkshire are being urged to consider adopting children from outside the local area.
First4Adoption – the national adoption information service for England – said there were still thousands of children without a permanent family.
It comes as the Department for Education released new Adoption Maps showing the numbers of children in each region waiting for a ‘forever family’.
A total of 2,070 children were adopted in England between July and September 2014.
Gemma Gordon-Johnson, from First4Adoption said “Many people are unaware that, once approved to do so, you can adopt a child or children from anywhere in England so we are urging more people to get in touch to find out more.”
