Doncaster hospital bosses are ploughing £2.7 million into a system to provide staff with instant information about patients.

The new patient administration system and Emergency Department information system will help improve the quality and safety of care provided at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop and Montagu Hospital in Mexborough, say bosses at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

It will also reduce the amount of paper form-filling that doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals need to complete, when they go live in 2014, freeing up time that staff will be able to spend with their patients.
