'He left him to die' - Man taken to hospital after 'hit-and-run' on South Yorkshire estate

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a reported hit-and-run in Rotherham.

Emergency services were called to Hartington Road at the junction with Rosebery Street in Ferham at around 5pm this evening.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Rotherham Hospital by paramedics.

Eyewitnesses said a blue car with the number '98' in the registration drove off at speed after the collision.

Adnan Hussain, 21, contacted The Star about the incident. He said: "This person has knocked him over and left him to die. If anyone knows anything then please call the police."

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "I can confirm there was a road traffic collision and police are making further enquiries in relation to the incident."
