'He has very slim chances of pulling through' - Condition of ex-BBC Radio Sheffield presenter attacked in Benidorm worsens

'Yorkshire's favourite Scouser', Jimmy was attacked in a bar on Tuesday, July 3, leaving him with a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain.

According the reports, the 63-year-old was standing up to a group of drunk men who were 'pushing, shoving and giving aggro to a group of girls' in the Good Times bar in Benidorm.

The alleged attacker is said to have been around 6ft tall, white with short dark brown hair, and is estimated to be around 30 to 40 years old.

He is said to have been wearing red short sleeved shirt with a white trim, dark tan knee length shorts, brown shoes and was with a group of around eight or nine other men.

Jimmy 'hit the floor already unconscious', and was rushed to hospital before later being put in a medically induced coma for scans and immediate surgery to release the pressure and swelling on his brain.

He was then transferred to Alicante Hospital for further CT scans and monitoring but remains in an induced coma, where his condition has worsened.

On Facebook, his son James wrote: "My Dad Jimmy Carol has had a second CT scan and unfortunately things have not turned out good.

"He has multiple clots on his brain and they are haemorrhaging. The doctor has said that things are not looking good and he has very slim chances of pulling through.

"I'm asking again for all of your prayers. PLEASE PRAY. I'm on my way from Brazil to Alicante but can't arrive until Saturday afternoon. Will keep everyone updated."

Jimmy's son Daniel is believe to already be at his bedside.
