Have a merry time with Robin Hood and babes in wood

The pantomime has proved to be one of the most popular shows every year since the venue in Waterdale opened in 2013.

This year's show, Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, has been created by a new writer and director duo.

A variation on two much-loved family stories follows Robin Hood, the bravest archer in the land.

He teams up with adventurous heroine Maid Marion to rescue the babes and outwit the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham.

A Cast spokeswoman said: 'Featuring glittering sets, stunning costumes and a full cast of all-singing, all-dancing Merry Men, Doncaster's showstopper of a panto promises to hit the bullseye.'

The new creative team comprises director Chris Lawson and renowned writer Ben Crocker and their show features plenty of mischief and derring do for all the family.

Chris Lawson is an established theatre director, joining Cast from the Oldham Colosseum theatre, where he is associate director.

Writer Ben Crocker has been writing pantomimes for more than 10 years.

Last year there were more than 200 productions of his pantomimes being staged all over the world!

Deborah Rees, director at Cast, said: '˜I've been peeping into rehearsals and been totally blown away with the brilliant music, fun and laughter going on - not to mention a hilarious slosh scene, expect things to get messy!

'This year's show is approved and tested by parents and teachers and promises to be the perfect festive treat for all ages.'

Tickets are available now online at castindoncaster.com but the theatre urges customers to book as soon as possible, due to more than 80% of all tickets available being sold already.

The Cast shows have also built a reputation for being some of the most accessible to all audiences, including people with disabilities.

All performances will be BSL interpreted for deaf viewers by an integrated signer and performer.

Other access performances include a captioned matinee on Saturday, December 8, an audio-described afternoon show on Sunday, December 16, a morning performance on Tuesday, December 4 for SEN schools, a relaxed matinee performance for families on Saturday, December 15 and one at 11am on Saturday, December 29 that is dementia friendly.

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood runs from November 30 to December 31.
